Title: People & Culture Generalist

Supervises: None

Reports to: Senior Director, Corporate People & Culture, Area Director of People & Culture

General Purpose:

The People & Culture Generalist serves as the owner of all People-related matters specifically focusing on recruiting, teammate engagement and reporting. With a primary focus creating the best pipeline for attracting and retraining teammate through the life cycle of the employee, the People & Culture Generalist is responsible for complying with the labor laws at all levels and assists in developing and managing internal processes, People & Culture (P&C) projects and programs to ensure overall compliance.

Specific Responsibilities


  • Manages all current job postings for 21c Nashville and updates on the Company's website. Posts various positions to job boards, with community partner agencies and with other established Centers of Influence. Makes recommendations to current recruiting processes, evaluating pricing bundles and optimization.
  • Manages and updates job descriptions and job postings, in conjunction with overall goals of the People & Culture team according to Brand standards.
  • Develops and manages the property's relationships with outside Centers of Influences. Assists in the marking and shares information regarding rates of pay, benefits and perks which make up the total rewards of working with 21c Museum Hotels.
  • Towns documenting and following all departmental processes and procedures.
  • Communicates with properties and P&C leaders regularly to ensure timely job postings and to collaborate on effectiveness.
  • Creates and shares basics and complex reports based on a variety of Talent & Culture related items such as open positions, days to fill, recruiting sources, applicants received, EEO data etc.
  • Participates in P&C department conference calls and meetings; shares updates regarding recruitment process.

Teammate Engagement

  • Develops and delivers initiatives relating to People & Culture training that coincides with the brand values, messaging, overall mission and Brand messaging to create the best overall experience for all new and existing teammates.
  • With supervision from the Area Director of People & Culture, leads and measures all engagement experience activities, including recruiting, onboarding and retention.
  • Partners with property leadership to ensure that recruiting and retention initiatives are implemented. Identifies and Provides general guidance to property activities committee including internal experiences for our new teammates (holiday parties, annual rally, etc.).
  • Completes all teammate birthday gift certificates on a monthly basis and distributes. In conjunction with the department manager, creates fun and excitement around the recognition of successes of the team.
  • Coordinate external experiences with the property activities committee for existing teammates focused on diversity and inclusion (local community and organization events, parades, etc.).
  • Through the activities committee, provides general guidance for coordinating the property onboarding experience for all new teammates in coordination with Training and Development.
  • Promote stay-at-work initiatives currently in place (referral bonus, penguin perks, DailyPay, etc.) and suggest new programs designed with the purpose of educating new teammates and retaining them.
  • In coordination with the Area Director of Talent & Culture, monitors and follow up on action plans and initiatives related to the Teammate Satisfaction Survey.
  • Develops and initiates communication plans, updates and suggests content for teammate monitors, posters, etc., in accordance and in collaboration with the Brand team.


  • Leads the reporting schedule for the property including the ACA lookback, turnover and performance reviews and forwards that information to P&C Leadership
  • Assists other P&C leaders and company managers with creating requested reports
  • Determines and coordinates data sets for measuring engagement initiatives, teammate participation and enhancements.


  • Participates in P&C department conference calls and meetings.
  • Supports and assists in various P&C projects and initiatives.
  • Serves as general backup for the People & Culture Assistant, Administration and Benefits.


  • Previous People & Culture experience administration experience is required.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking ability.
  • Strong attention to detail is essential; excellent multi-tasking ability is required.
  • Must be able to work independently, with little supervision, under pressure and on short deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills are required.
  • Read, write and speak English fluently
  • Critical Thinking and Analysis

General knowledge of administrative applications and strong computer skills

Education/Formal Training:

  • College or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Computer literate
  • Prior Human Resources or Temporary Staffing experience is preferred.

Travel Requirements

  • Some travel between properties and networking events may be necessary.
  • Infrequent, long-range travel to conferences, etc. may be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Light physical work
  • Primarily seated job in office environment, utilizing general office equipment
