Reports To: Beverage Manager

General Purpose: The Beverage/Cocktail Server serves beverages to guests in a friendly, engaging, and efficient manner. He or she provides knowledgeable answers to guest questions regarding beverages and makes a priority of maintaining a clean, welcoming appearance in the service area. The Server recognizes regulars and develops relationships with guests to achieve personalized service.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Follows all steps of service.
  • Knows drinks names, ingredients, method of preparation, appropriate glassware, and garnishes.
  • Knows all wines by the glass and at least 5 wines in each category on the wine list in varying price ranges and styles.
  • Knows specialty beverages i.e. single malt scotches, cognacs, specialty drinks, beer list.
  • Knows all menu descriptions for bar menu and dining room menu.
  • Ensures service station is stocked.
  • Verifies all guests are at least 21 years of age.
  • Provides prompt, accurate reporting of all income received during shift.
  • Sells beverages responsibly with customer's best interest in mind.
  • Maintains smooth flow of service between bar and server requests.
  • Completes all sidework as outlined in manual.
  • Reports to work on time and ready to work scheduled shift.
  • Maintains a positive, friendly attitude with co-workers & guests.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly appearance of the restaurant service area.
  • Assists/executes any and all tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Follows all proper sanitation guidelines.


  • Able to work flexible hours (nights, weekends).
  • Responsible, dependable, punctual.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Strong communication skills; must be able to speak, read and understand English.
  • Clean and professional appearance.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for all things 21c.
  • Beverage knowledge (spirits & beer/wine/especially Bourbon).
  • Must pass a background check.

Education/Formal Training:

  • High school or equivalent education required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to carry full cocktail tray comfortably.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
