Title:    Project Manager, Design + Construction


Profile:  Passion for designing and developing 21c Museum Hotels projects, including new developments and capital improvements.  Manage projects on behalf of 21c through the schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction administration phases.  21c project managers are team players, collaborative, detailed oriented, excel at managing multiple projects simultaneously, and are passionate about ensuring excellence in design, functionality, and guest experience.





  • Collect existing property documentation for potential development opportunities.
  • Assist with due diligence exercises for potential development opportunities.
  • Assist with project team proposals, review and selection (AEC team).



  • Evaluate design presentations and provide feedback on design challenges including constructability, durability, sequencing and alignment with brand standards.
  • Carefully review drawings and specs to ensure conformance to ownership's design intent and 21c brand standards
  • Work with Interior Design team to ensure that Architecture and Interior Design are fully coordinated
  • Carefully review FF&E and lighting selection to ensure alignment with brand standards.
  • Participate with FFE procurement calls including budgeting and scheduling
  • Manage 21c projects and specific project tasks throughout design and project life cycle.


Construction Administration

  • Review cut sheets, shop drawings, and submittals as required and appropriate
  • Participate with bid analysis as required
  • Review reports from consultants and contractor
  • Photo-document construction progress
  • Assist with VE process as needed
  • Coordinate and assist with FFE procurement/install and construction schedule.
  • Coordinate with all stakeholders and assist with punch list.
  • Perform site visits and issue on-site observations reports to stakeholders as appropriate
  • Assist and coordinate with project closeout / turnover, maintenance / repair guidelines, sourcing guidelines
  • Assist and coordinate with project drawing, spec and O&M manual archiving and ensure records are complete, up to date and accessible.


Property Improvements & Capital Expenditures

  • Assist with all design-related Capital Expenditure initiatives for existing properties including minor renovations and FF&E projects.
  • Assist with assessment of needs, development of budgets, development of drawings and specifications, and project management of all design-related Capital Expenditure initiatives for existing properties.
  • Be available to property engineers and Chief engineer to help facilitate any required attention at specific sites.



  • Maintain project files and project communication procedures.
  • Support maintenance of calendar for 21c pipeline projects and keep stakeholders updated.
  • Recommend and monitor tools/technology for design and construction department to most effectively manage projects.
  • participate in development and maintenance of 21c brand standards for design & construction
  • support adherence to 21c brand standards for design & construction standards
  • ensure project team contact lists are maintained
  • support project administration protocols including stakeholder communication, document management, schedule monitoring, budget tracking and updating, contact lists, etc.
  • assist with design-related training as needed

  • Ability to act as ambassador of 21c Museum Hotels and related brands and demonstrate confidence in his/her knowledge of the history, brand values, vision, and direction.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Working knowledge of project management tools such as Basecamp and editing solutions such as Bluebeam.
  • Working knowledge of best practices in sustainable design.
  • Working knowledge of building systems.
  • Hunger for sustained learning, growth, and development.
  • Ability to travel.


Education / Formal Training:


  • Bachelor's Degree  - study of Architecture or Construction Science & Management preferred




  • 3 to 5 years of related experience
