Title: Area Director of Talent and Culture (Human Resources) 

Reports to:  Corporate Director of Talent and Culture

Supervises: Talent and Culture Coordinator

As the Area Director of Talent and Culture (Human Resources), you will oversees the development of peoplerelated strategies and policies for multiple locations, and assists with the implementation of those strategies at all levels.  The Area Director of Talent and Culture takes a leadership role in creating a culture where teammates are rewarded and recognized for great performance, while ensuring that 21c is recruiting and retaining top talent through competitive wages, benefits, opportunities for advancement, and a fun and rewarding culture.  The Area Director of Talent and Culture helps ensure that company policies are followed, creating a safe and comfortable work environment and thereby minimizing labor/employment claims.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Teammate Communication o Contributes to the creation and deployment of communication content for multiple 21c properties. o      Works closely with Public Relations team to share important news, changes, awards, etc... with teammates.
    • Develops content distributed to all Teammates by ADP Workforce Now and/or Teammate Communication monitors.
    • Approves teammate rallies and recognition events at properties.
  • Compliance o Plans and manages sexual harassment and anti-discrimination training for teammates.
    • Provides education and training for property managers regarding HR policies, best practices, and loss prevention strategies.
    • Investigates claims of misbehavior by or against employees.
    • Distributes required legal notices to teammates and maintain evidence of delivery
    • Works closely with Corporate Director of Talent and Culture and Legal to ensure all policies and actions conform to ACA, ERISA, FLSA, ADA, FMLA and other labor/employment laws.
  • Culture o Works with the property teams to ensure teammate recognition programs are administered consistently.
    • Assists in coordinating teammate rallies and recognition events at properties.
    • Develops plan for increasing diversity within the company and ensuring that minority employees feel appreciated and recognized.
    • Approves and promotes corporate social and recognition events in each property (i.e. Activities Committee).
    • Promotes knowledge and understanding of Brand Values throughout the company. o Oversees annual Teammate Satisfaction Survey and works with property leadership teams to determine action plans for the next year. o             Serves as liaison to management for employee concerns; work to achieve satisfactory solutions of employee problems and disputes.
  • HR Administration o Reviews and updates personnel file documents; ensure proper handling and retention of teammate information/paperwork.
    • Maintains ADP Workforce Now systems to ensure that data is being recorded properly.
    • Assists in the development of and implements training for all management personnel.
  • Teammate Life Cycle o Maintains and updates database of Job Descriptions and Job Postings and works with local centers of influence to ensure the most exposure possible to these positions
    • Assists property Executive Committee with recruitment of new employees; organizes candidate visits and interviews; serves as company liaison with outside recruiting agencies as needed
    • Assists the property leadership teams with new hires during pre-opening of new properties; manages review of resumes and organizes interview fairs.
    • Manages company's presence on recruiting websites. o Manages employee evaluation process.
    • Assists with bench planning and optimal utilization of talent throughout the organization.


  • Initiative to create and implement new programs and processes in a growing company.

  • Able to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, with a diverse group of teammates.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Significant knowledge of laws relating to compensation, benefits, labor/employment.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must be available to perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in task force and internal/external committees as requested.

Education/Formal Training:

  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Certification and/or experience ADP Workforce Now.


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in Human Resources.
  • Hospitality and/or restaurant experience preferred.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel when needed.
